Derek Williamson, sophomore, and Angelica Anyaogu, junior, were both honored with this weeks Ohio Valley Conference Male and Female Track and Field Athletes of the Week award, respectively. Williamson’s success this week included a pair of top three finishes at EIU’s Friday Night Special. Accoplishments for Anyaogu include a personal best in the long jump that is worthy of fifth in the EIU record books.

Before the season, the dates on the baseball schedule should all read as “TBA” because Mother Nature seems to always have a different schedule than the players. For the second consecutive week, the Panther’s baseball team was forced to reschedule their games, this time against Kansas State. Instead of playing the Wildcats, the Panthers will play three games in Arkansas this weekend.

On Thursday morning EIU announced that redshirt junior Norvel Mohammed earned co-track Athlete of the Year honors for the Ohio Valley Conference. Mohammed’s accomplishments this season include times in the 200 meter and 400 meter dash that rank among the best in school history.
Fortunately, EIU is no stranger to this prestigious award as it has been won as recently as last year by Calvin Edwards. The best of the Ohio Valley Conference will be in Charleston this weekend as Lantz Fieldhouse is set to host the indoor track and field championships.
